Dear Editor,
Like a lot of Brits, I am a follower of the ‘beautiful game’, supporting my UK team from afar – but nothing, of course, beats the excitement of attending a real match.
So, with that in mind, I thought I’d pop over to watch my local side, Clube de Futebol Esperança de Lagos, the next time they played – thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Although the attendances don’t quite match Premiership levels, neither do the entrance fees. In fact, I’ve seen a few games there now and, although I’d gladly pay, I have never been asked.
I’m sure more of the expat community would get into local football if you donated a little space to the likes of Third Division Série F (Algarve).
