Algarve hotels are celebrating their best May since 2000, with 74.3% of rooms booked.
The number grew 3.1% compared to 2017, thanks mostly to the Irish and British markets, up 14.1% and 7.5%, respectively, which helped make up for a drop in French (-13.6%) and Portuguese (-2.7%) visitors.
Further data from the Algarve hoteliers’ association (AHETA) shows that the number of guests grew the most in Tavira (+8.7%) and Carvoeiro/Armação de Pêra (+7.8%), with business volume at hotels also up 9.2% across the region.
