2017 was a record year for two of the Algarve’s most popular theatres – Teatro das Figuras (Faro) and Cine-Teatro Louletano (Loulé).
Both venues saw audience numbers reach new heights last year, with Teatro das Figuras and Cine-Teatro Louletano welcoming over 48,000 and 30,000 people, respectively.
Teatro das Figuras stands out as the Algarve’s main venue for shows, having hosted a total of 146 shows last year, which translates into an average of 2.5 shows per week.
Most of the performances were either musical or educational (27%), with dancing accounting for 14% of the total and theatre and cinema representing 12%.
In Loulé, the Cine-Teatro Louletano hosted mostly concerts (46) and plays (27), although there were also seven dancing performances and 11 cinema sessions.
