The Algarve now has two further ‘national monuments’. They are the walls and door (pictured) of the Almedina de Silves, in the town of Silves, and Castro Marim’s Fort of São Sebastião, along with the “other architectonic elements remaining from the bulwark/bastion and ravelins connecting it to the castle”. The newly-classified national monuments were included in a list of seven from all over Portugal.
