The President of the Carvoeiro Parish Council has launched an urgent appeal against the proposed closure of the Junta de Freguesia, as part of the Government’s local administration restructuring plan.
Speaking to the Algarve Resident today (November 9), Jorge Pardal appeals to all who are against the measure to send an email to the Junta (freguesiacarvoeiro@gmail.com), “in any language, with the name of the person opposing the move, address and stating the reasons why they oppose the proposed closure of the parish council office”.
He said: “We cannot allow the Junta to close. This is a disaster. The services it provides its population are many and too important for the government to take such an uncaring stance over this matter.
“We must act now. There is no time to waste as discussion of the local administration restructuring plan is scheduled to take place in Parliament soon. I urge all citizens against this measure to email the Junta as soon as possible. All responses will then be forwarded to the government.”
