Focus once again is on the daily DGS Covid bulletin which today sees the highest number of new cases detected in a 24-hour period since last February: 4,670 positive tests – vast majority in the north (1,438), Lisbon (1,401) and central region (1,231). Deaths too have seen a leap to 17 – again the majority in the areas worst affected, plus three in Madeira. For the full bulletin click here. There has been a total of 1,151,919 positive cases of infection by SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal since the start of the pandemic, seeing 1,077,683 people recover. Right now, 55,778 people are infected with Covid-19, all but 841 of them recovering (in isolation) at home. Deaths as of today (since the start of the pandemic) have reached 18, 458.
