Life is not going well for European Commission President Durão Barroso, who recently escaped an egg attack by two angry young men.
Barroso was speaking at a conference in Liege, Belgium, on October 17 when he was surprised by eggs flying from the audience and hitting the panel immediately behind him.
The revolt was apparently prompted by the European Union’s policies regarding agriculture.
Amid demands and accusations like “do you know that European farms lose money with each egg they sell thanks to your policies”, the two protestors were escorted from the conference room, still in full flow, and starting on criticism of the EU’s immigration policy.
Although they missed with their eggs, Barroso was clearly rattled. Only two weeks ago angry protesters called him a “killer” when he visited the Italian island of Lampedusa.
