More than 100 firefighters fought a blaze that broke out in Bensafrim, Lagos, on Monday just before 1pm.
The fire, which threatened villages and even led to several children being evacuated from a local nursery school, was brought under control at 8pm the same day.
More than 30 vehicles, including two helicopters and four planes, were involved in the firefighting operation.
A vast area of shrubland and pine trees as well as two derelict and abandoned houses were destroyed by the fire.
