THE GREATER Lisbon region is estimated to earn a bumper five billion euros from tourism this year.
The sum represents around nine per cent of the region’s gross internal product. The estimate was released on May 21 at the signing of a protocol between the Lisbon Tourism Association and the government for the new international airport at Ota, the new Lisbon cruise ship terminal and the TGV high-speed rail link.
