Interest in the sea is growing in the Algarve, with 83 projects representing €29 million in terms of investment being presented recently, informed the regional department for agriculture and fisheries (DRAPAlg). The harvesting of mussels and oysters for exportation purposes has generated particular interest from investors. Fernando Severino from DRAPALg said: “Nationally, the sea is worth €8 billion in terms of what it produces and only half of this amount comes from the fishing industry,” he said.
