THE PORTUGUESE Oncology Institute has identified a gene mutation associated with hereditary breast cancer.
Scientific researchers at the institute succeeded in identifying a rare mutation of the gene BRCA2. The discovery not only opens the way to a more rapid diagnosis of the disease but also will help to identify those most at risk of developing the disease.
