British man’s body found in marina

PORTUGUESE authorities have repatriated the body of a British man who was found dead on his yacht last Wednesday morning (July 11) at Lagos Marina.

It has been established that the man died of natural causes in his sleep. He had travelled from Tenerife on his yacht, the Blue Mantle, and arrived at Lagos on Tuesday (July 10).

According to the police, he stopped at the marina to pick up his 14-year-old son, who had flown in from Manchester. They planned to go on a seven-week adventure for the young boy’s holidays.

The alarm was raised by the boy after he found his father dead on Wednesday morning. Medical records show that the man suffered from diabetes and a heart problem.

The British Consulate in Portimão was called by the maritime police to help with the case and with communications.

An older son of the man, who is 32 and also lives in Manchester, was also immediately called by the consulate and he arrived around 6pm on Wednesday at Lagos Marina.
