Darnell Barton, the typical average Joe, has become an American hero.
The school bus-driver was on his regular route taking children to their classes in Buffalo, New York, when he noticed something was wrong as he entered a bridge. He saw a woman on the opposite side of the rail leaning over the traffic below.
He stopped the bus, keeping calm, and asked the woman if she needed help.
She only looked back at him for a moment before re-focusing on the expressway below. He called the bus company’s dispatch and warned them of the situation. Then he decided to take matters into his own hands before there was a tragedy. One of the children on the bus had already cried: “I don’t want to see someone die.” Cautiously, he managed to convince the woman to move over to the other side of the rail and sit down beside him. Shortly afterwards, emergency services arrived and took over.
Barton’s heroic actions earned him a standing ovation from pupils onboard the bus – and a $10,000 reward from multi-millionaire Donald Trump!
