Cameras in taxis

PORTUGUESE TAXIS will soon carry surveillance cameras to help the authorities identify criminals.

The surveillance systems, which cost between 750 and 1,200 euros, will be paid for by the individual taxi driver.

The objective of this is to record images during emergency situations, threats or violence against the drivers, as well as discouraging damage to taxis.

According to the new law, a central store will be created for the images which will be deleted immediately if a dangerous situation is not detected.
