Car sales in Portugal increased last month, contradicting pessimistic predictions for the sector.
According to Anecra, Associação Nacional das Empresas de Comércio e Reparação Automóvel, the increase in car sales was 23,8 per cent higher than the same period in 2006. The biggest growth was for small cars.
Renault, Opel and BMW obtained increases of 55.7 per cent, 62 per cent and 34.3 per cent respectively, and only Peugeot and Fiat registered a drop in sales.
