THE INTERNATIONAL Christian Church and the International Christian School of Cascais got their 25-year celebrations off to a start last Saturday with a musical concert in Polima, S. Domingos da Rona.
Marty Ulher and his group opened the concert, followed by presentations by Mark Mekelburg and Arlete Castro. Dr. Joe Henriques was invited on stage to talk about how he founded the church and school in Cascais. From its humble beginnings to the futuristic project that will, one day, see a huge church and school develop.
Then, impressive group, Deep Voices, took to the stage with their harmonious voices, receiving great applause from the audience. Later, Ricardo Castro had the students whooping and whistling as he launched into a song, to be joined by Micaela Fernandes for an enchanting duet – the standing ovation was well deserved. While the concert was taking place, there was an art exhibition by talented artist Mena Wagner.
If the start of the celebrations was this successful, then this weekend’s events should not be missed! A banquet at the Estoril Eden Hotel on May 28, at 7.30pm, will celebrate the church and school’s 25th anniversary. For full details, contact the school on 214 861 860.
