Cable telecommunications went down for several hours in Monchique on Monday last week due to a theft of copper wire which affected a fibre optic cable in the Rasmalho area, of Portimão council. The town of Monchique was without telephone, internet, mobile phone and television between 3.30am and noon. The GNR confirmed that 100 metres of copper wire had been stolen and are now investigating the crime.
