GRAVEDIGGERS AT a cemetery in Australia are being given lifesaving training and have even purchased a defibrillator, as a precautionary measure to save the lives of those who collapse at funerals due to grief.
A spokesperson for Melbourne’s Cheltenham cemetery said that at least one person collapses at a funeral there every two months, which is why gravediggers are being trained. Ambulances are called to the cemetery five times per year on average, according to the spokesperson.
