A study carried out by broadband association Bitkom in Germany found that many German people in their 20s would rather leave their spouses and do without a car than lose access to the internet or a mobile phone.
The survey revealed that around 84 per cent of respondents aged 19-29 said they would rather do without their current partner or an automobile than forego their connection to the web.
Living without a mobile phone was also unthinkable for 97 per cent of those questioned in that age range.
