The four men who raped and killed a 23-year-old woman on board a bus in India were sentenced to death last week. “In these times, when crime against women is on the rise, the courts cannot turn a blind eye toward such gruesome acts,” said the judge when announcing sentence. The victim, Jyoti Pandey, was left on the side of the road, naked and at death’s door, after 90 minutes of violent sexual abuse last December.
