Paulo Gonçalves became the latest Portuguese sportsman to take top order on the international stage when winning the motorbike category of the Morocco Rally on his Honda and claim the world off-road championship 2013 on two wheels.
The Algarve’s Ruben Faria, who starred during last January’s South American Dakar Rally, was forced to retire his KTM from the same race following the recurrence of a wrist injury.
