Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) recently welcomed the District Governor Afonso Malho from RC Moita.
The Governor spoke about the need for Rotary Clubs to work together to achieve “as much as possible nationally and internationally”.
After lunch at Estoi Pousada, the DG visited the local Casa do Povo community centre and met with Odete da Sousa who oversees the monthly food pack distribution from the Faro Food Bank. He was accompanied by RCEPI President Manuela Robinson, President Elect Bruno Costa and Head of Community Service Christine Fay.
The Governor saw how RCEPI contribute with the milk project, supplying nearly 50,000 litres of milk over the last eight years to supplement the food bank parcels.
DG Malho was also shown the new van that the Club helped purchase for the Casa do Povo and photographs from the Christmas party that RCEPI organised for the underprivileged in the community.
The group then moved on to the Fire Station in São Brás to meet the newly-elected President Custódia Reis, Comandante Vítor Martins and 2nd Comandante Salvador Gonçalves.
RCEPI have also helped the Bombeiros over the years, purchasing a compressor, new hard hats and boots, two defibrillators and a fully-equipped ambulance.
The District Governor praised the work done by RCEPI to support the local community and “the enthusiasm and commitment of its members”.
