A young Portuguese DJ ran amok among a masked crowd of Halloween revellers, stabbing five British holidaymakers – two of them very seriously. The macabre incident took place in a disco on the notorious Magaluf resort (pictured) on Spain’s ‘party’ island, Majorca. 25-year-old Nélson Delgado is now on remand in custody as police investigate.
Expresso newspaper reports that the incident appears to have been sparked by an attack on Delgado’s brother in the same disco earlier in the evening last Friday (Halloween night). The brother is believed to have been attacked by British holidaymakers – and Nélson Delgado set out to settle the score.
However, as everyone was wearing masks, the angry DJ is thought to have lashed out indiscriminately, stabbing party-goers who apparently had nothing to do with his brother’s attack.
As investigations continue, two of Delgado’s victims remain in hospital in a serious condition, and the reputation of Magaluf as a holiday destination is falling fast.
In 2008, a British bar worker on the island was raped, beaten and stabbed after walking home from work, and three months ago Thomas Ousby fell to his death from the ninth floor of his hotel.
