A SPECIALIST sniffer dog that had been kidnapped in Mexico City was found abandoned five days later in a park and was reunited with its handlers.
It had been taken from an airport, where it was on its way to take part in a police operation. A black mongrel puppy was put inside Rex’s travel cage in an attempt to fool officers and it was only at the destination that police realised what had happened. Police were worried that the dog was taken by smugglers, who could learn how to hide their drugs better using Rex as a test.
