A DONKEY in southern Mexico has been arrested for assault and battery after it bit and kicked two men near a ranch in Chiapas.
The victims accuse the donkey of biting one of them in the chest and then kicking the other who had attempted a rescue of the first man.
Police reported that it took six men to control the incensed animal. Once apprehended, the donkey was put in a jail usually used for housing people arrested for public drunkenness.
Sinar Gomez, a police officer from Chiapas, said that the donkey would remain in jail until the owner pays the injured men’s medical bills. “Around here, if someone commits a crime they are jailed, no matter who they are.”
