2017 was the year the motor industry’s woes in Portugal turned to whoops of joy as over €2 billion was spent on people buying new cars and vans. The uptake involves a 25% surge in business for credit institutions that saw requests for finance reach an average of “more than €5 million per day”. Said the association of specialist credit institutions this was “expected” as Portugal overcomes the economic crisis.
