After years in which he has appealed and delayed the verdict, former ‘scrap metal king of Ovar’ Manuel Godinho – the so-called kingpin of the Face Oculta trial (click here) – has accepted that it’s time to face the music. He is reported to have ‘voluntarily presented himself’ to Paços de Ferreira jail where he will now serve out a 12 year sentence (whittled down over the years from the original 17 and a half years). Explain reports, a warrant for his arrest had recently been issued. Mr Godinho is the last defendant condemned to jail in the context of Face Oculta to concede to Portuguese justice.
