Father Christmas made time in his busy schedule to drop into the Holiday Inn Algarve in Armação de Pêra last week, when the Royal British Legion (Portugal Branch) held a festive Christmas lunch.
The event, which was organised by Eddie and Maria de Bie (and the staff of the Holiday Inn of course), gave members an opportunity to congratulate the new Chairman – Jacquie Collins – on her position, following the AGM that took place in early December.
With a jolly ho, ho, ho, Father Christmas asked all the women present (one at a time) to sit on his lap and share their confidences about their hopes for Christmas – all ladies received a gift from Father Christmas. He then visited each table and offered gifts to the men, thus ensuring there was no favouritism!
This year has been a busy one for the RBL with several events spearheaded by Phil and Vi Ladbrook (912392618) in the East of the Algarve, with Eddie and Maria de Bie (282 381184) and Lloyd and Trish Delderfield throughout the rest of the Algarve.
If you have not yet joined the RBL, please think about it – you do not have to have served in the armed forces and you will enjoy great camaraderie.
For more information, please contact the membership secretary Tony Peters (910 983 158).
The Royal British Legion (Portugal Branch) wishes all its members, friends and all readers of the Algarve Resident a peaceful Christmas and a healthy 2014.
