The German version of the British newspaper The Financial Times was published for the last time last Friday, with a final edition that was full of pride and irony. The daily newspaper was launched 12 years ago as a joint venture by Pearson and Gruner & Jahr, but has never turned a profit.
The coloured front page of the last edition read “Black at last” – an ironic allusion to never managing to be in the black (financially) while the newspaper was published.
