THE OLDEST person in Europe, Maria de Jesus from Tomar in Central Portugal, celebrated her 114th birthday on Monday.
She is the second oldest person in the world and was born on September 10, 1893, which means she has lived through three centuries.
She spent her birthday with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at home.
The oldest person in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records is American Edna Parker, who was born on April 2, 1893, after the previous record holder, Yone Minagawa from Japan, died on August 13.
