A TEENAGER was chased by police after he was spotted speeding through the German town of Moenchengladbach in a go-kart.
The 18-year-old was pursued by seven squad cars but managed to give them the slip after being followed for five kilometres. He spotted a private garage with an open door and drove into it, evading the police. However, police later discovered his hiding place and, after being questioned, he was charged with driving without a license and driving a go-kart on a public street, which is not permitted in Germany.
A police spokesperson said: “We were chasing him across town, but the squad cars couldn’t keep up because the go-cart was able to take the corners faster and he was able to get away.”
Incidentally, Moenchengladbach has produced two Formula One racing drivers, Nick Heidfeld of the BMW Sauber ream and former racer Heinz-Harald Frentzen.
