AMERICAN REAL estate billionaire, Leona Hemsley, who died on August 20, has left 12 million dollars to her pet dog, Trouble, and did not leave two of her four grandchildren a cent.
Dubbed the Queen of Mean, Hemsley was famed for saying “only the little people pay taxes” before she was jailed for 18 months for evading 1.7 million dollars in taxes in 1989. Trouble, a white Maltese, will be cared for by her brother, who was left 10 million.
In her will, which was made public last week, she also asked for Trouble to be buried alongside her, her husband and her son, who died in 1982, in the family mausoleum.
The majority of her fortune is tied up in her enterprises and will be controlled by five of her most trusted people.
