It’s that time of year in the Algarve when the almond blossom is at its best. With this in mind, a walk in the Loulé countryside to see the beautiful Algarvian “snow” is taking place on Saturday, February 17.
The event is organised by rural B&B Casa da Tita in Nave do Barão, as part of the ‘Loulé Criativo’ project.
As well as being an opportunity to admire the blossoming almond trees, the day will also give participants the opportunity to learn how to make some of the region’s traditional sweets such as “bolinhos de amêndoa” (almond cakes) and “queijinhos de figo e amêndoa” (moist fig and almond cakes).
Participants should meet at 9am at Associação Os Barões, in Nave do Barão, for the two-hour walk, stopping at Casa da Tita for a break and to taste the almond-based liquor “amarguinha”.
Lunch will then be served back at Os Barões, after which all will gather for the workshop, held in Portuguese and English, from 2.30pm to 5pm.
Price is €35 per person.
