TOMORROW (SATURDAY) is European no car day and to mark the occasion, several Câmaras in Portugal have organised alternative environmentally friendly transport as well as taking the opportunity to carry out road repairs.
This year, 61 cities and towns are participating, with 31 promoting a week-long programme of activities.
Various measures are being taken in Lisbon, including banning cars in Terreiro do Paço at weekends. There will be a variety of activities tomorrow at Terreiro do Paço including yoga, guided walks, archery and tests and advice about cardiovascular illnesses.
In the Algarve, nature lovers are encouraged to walk or cycle along the Via Algarviana, a 214km route from Sagres to Vila Real de Santo António, in a initiative organised by the Câmara of Alcoutim.
