Occupancy rates in the Algarve’s tourist establishments were placed at 31.1% in November, representing a 1.6% increase compared to the same month last year.
Data from AHETA, the association of hotels and resorts of the Algarve, shows a major slump compared to last month, when the occupancy rate was a considerable 60.9% – but figures are up compared to November last year due, thanks largely to “significant increases” in the number of visiting Germans and French people.
Tavira and the Western Algarve (Lagos/ Sagres) were the areas registering the largest boosts (27.3% and 19.1% up from last November, respectively).
The areas of Monte Gordo and Vila Real de Santo António registered the best occupancy rates in the Algarve, with an impressive 64.3% for November, while the Western Algarve as a whole registered only 20.9%.
AHETA’s statistics refer only to tourist establishments that did not close down altogether for the winter.
