A total of €,3250 has been donated to the Silves Fire Truck Appeal by Associação Obrigado Bombeiros to help fund a new vehicle for Silves fire station.
The funds were raised during the association’s successful first music event this May (€2,250) and from the weekly quiz nights (€1,000) held at Quinta da Figueirinha, near Silves.
The A-May-Zing live music extravaganza was held on May 18 at Carvoeiro Tennis Club and was generously supported by the many musicians who performed and by all those who participated by attending and buying raffle tickets on the night. The event was sold out.
The event coordinator Jackie Meadows told us: “It was a truly A-May-Zing evening where everyone joined in, dancing to great music and enjoying excellent food in a vibrant party atmosphere.
“One of the high spots of the evening was the arrival of Silves Bombeiros with their newly-purchased firetruck. It was wonderful for our supporters to be able to view the truck they had helped to purchase, sit inside it and talk to the firefighters.”
Associação Obrigado Bombeiros has already planned its next event, which will be a golf tournament with lunch at the Pestana’s Gramacho course in Lagoa on Saturday, July 6.
