Official unemployment increases for first time in eight months

The number of unemployed people who signed on at national job centres last month increased by 0.6% on numbers registered in November. The increase comes after eight months in which these numbers had been falling. In real terms, this takes the number of people without a job in Portugal to 347,959. This figure however is only a guideline. Many unemployed are either not ‘signed on’ at job centres
