Mortality caused by the Covid.-19 pandemic has reduced life expectancy from the age of 65. Consequently, the legal retirement age needs to be recalculated. A provisionary estimate published yesterday by INE, the national institute of statistics, reduces retirement age to 66 years and four months in 2023.

According to data from the Portuguese Dental Association (OMD), only 31% of Portuguese have complete dentition and almost 10% are missing all their teeth. In addition, it's important to emphasise that 48.6% of Portuguese with missing natural teeth don't have replacement teeth.
