Notwithstanding the pandemic, partners of women in labour are to start being allowed to accompany pregnant mothers in hospital, from routine appointments and ultrasound exams to the birth itself. A new rule issued by the DGS health authority says hospitals “must assure the necessary conditions to guarantee the presence of a companion during labour, who must complete a clinical and epidemiological questionnaire”. If the companion is fully-vaccinated, he/ she will not be expected to take a test for Covid-19.
