A GERMAN book fair has discovered an ingenious indicator of public interest in books by gauging which are most stolen.
These books usually end up on the best seller list and publishers have shown eager interest in the Most Stolen Book index. The German translation of Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth was on the list but most of the stolen titles were German.
