A 14-km route linking the Portimão council to the Via Algarviana walkway is currently being developed. It will be connecting the Moinho da Rocha to the Comboios de Portugal train station in Mexilhoeira Grande, as part of the Almargem project to link the Baixo Guadiana area of the east Algarve to Cape St Vincent, but via an inland route.
