A late spot kick successfully converted by Oliveirense’s Rui Lima denied Portimonense the chance to take any points home from their latest away trip.
The home side had the better of the game with Lázaro Oliveira’s men only threatening from dead ball situations and, as both sides struggled to resolve the deadlock, Portimão defender Ivo Nicolau brought down Carlitos in the area three minutes before time to hand victory to the hosts.
This Sunday afternoon the Algarveans will be hoping to make up some lost ground on league leaders Belenenses, Sporting B and Arouca when third from bottom Covilha are the visitors at the Portimão municipal stadium.
