Portimão Câmara is considering a plan to cut its municipal public transport (Vai e Vem) in a bid to optimise the service and help reduce its deficit of around €4 million annually.
The plan, which follows a study report, entails the reduction of bus routes in some parts of the town and the possible closure of other lines. The services, run by the municipal company Portimão Urbis, operate 17 routes with a total of 565 stops within the three parish regions of the municipal district.
During the first six months of this year, it transported an estimated one million passengers.
