Dear Editor,
I visit the Algarve at least five times a year.
I am fortunate enough to be able to use public transport to get to Cabanas de Tavira.
However, the Ryanair flight arrives at about 3pm … and the bus to Faro train station leaves at 3.07pm. We have yet to be able to get this bus … the last twice we have seen it driving away as we run across the (airport) car park.
The train to Cabanas leaves at 4.23pm …but the next bus time means we would miss this train and have to get one an hour later at 5.30pm.
That’s not on, so we use a taxi.
The last three taxi drivers have been very rude and are telling us we should not be using a taxi (into Faro) but go by bus.
They have been very rude and abrupt and cannot grasp our problem because of the language difference. All they can see is that they have a short fare and not a lucrative long distance trip and they are then at the back of the queue.
I sympathise with them … but it’s not our fault and it’s no excuse to be very rude.
I have sent an e mail to the bus service about the plane/train times but did not get a response.
Our flight was the only one landing and yet the buses do not take account of this. Why can’t the taxi drivers agree to us using a taxi at the back of the queue? Hopefully somebody will look at the problem and resolve it…it cannot be that hard.
Until then we will try our hardest to get the bus … and if it fails we will take the rudeness of the taxi driver so we can make the next train.
