Following a recent national news item stating that the hitherto Algarve-based WRC Rally of Portugal is to move north in 2015, Loulé Mayor Vitor Aleixo has asked for an urgent meeting with Portuguese Automobile Club vice-president Mário Martins.
Discussions due to have taken place this week are said to have centred round keeping one of Portugal’s most important international sporting events in the south of the country.
The 2014 edition, due to take place in the Lower Alentejo and the Algarve between April 3 and 6, is considered to be of utmost importance to the region, both in terms of tourism and economic impact.
