THE DEADLINE to pay for vehicle road tax, Imposto Municipal sobre Veículos (IMV), ends on July 31.
The tax can now be paid on the Finance office website as well as in any finance office and authorized sellers such as newspaper shops.
Foreign cars which have not been registered in Portugal may also pay road tax by asking for the dístico modelo n° 4 – série “Veículo estrangeiro”, in any finance office.
Cars which are exempt from paying road tax must also ask for a special tax disc to prove that they are exempt. This can be obtained at any finance office and is called isenção do imposto.
