A Portuguese man, 33, was arrested on February 28 for the theft of five sewer lids, worth nearly €300 each.
The man, a resident of Porches, was detained in Pateiro, Lagoa, during a road stop by the GNR, who confiscated the sewer lids, believed to have been stolen in the Alcantarilha area.
The thief was preparing to sell them to a scrap yard.
