DEMOLITION continued last week of three more illegal houses in Bairro das Marianas in Carcavelos, the shantytown that has been a headache for the Cascais Câmara since the early 70s, as well as the many residents who are constantly troubled by the noise, pollution and crime in the area. The occupants of the houses have already been re-housed by the câmara. The owner of the land may surely be excited at the prospect of having his property back! Local people will also breathe a sigh of relief as the last of the illegal properties are demolished, making way for a cleaner and brighter area. B.H.
