A NEW SOLAR energy centre is to be built in Reguengos de Monsaraz in the Alentejo region.
The project is being promoted by an Algarve investor, Mário Palhavã. He told The Resident that a positive agreement had been given by Direcção Geral de Geologia e Energia, the national authority on energy investments.
The solar energy centre is expected to produce 100 kW and supply a small village of 2,500 inhabitants near Reguengos de Monsaraz.
The project is being prepared for more licensing and approvals from other authorities.
