St Martin’s fair returns to Portimão this month

Portimão will be celebrating St Martin’s Day from today (Friday) until November 18 during its annual fair Feira de São Martinho at the Parque de Feiras e Exposições.

The fair has taken place every year since 1662 and is considered the most ancient and popular event in the city.

Visitors to the 350th St Martin’s Fair will have the chance to browse through a total of 84 stalls, selling everything from food, clothes, shoes, household items and toys at bargain prices, purchase the traditional coal-roasted chestnuts as well as enjoy all the fun of the fair thrill rides.

A novelty this year is an exhibition of new and used cars by the FIAAL Group, which represents nine car brands in the Algarve. The car show will be held at the Portimão Arena, located in the grounds of the Parque de Feiras e Exposições, from 3pm to 11pm each day.

FIAAL will also be launching the new Ford B-MAX, the Volkswagen Golf and the Range Rover.

On November 15, fun rides will cost a reduced price of €1 for all (average price per ride on any other day is €2).

The fair is open daily from 10am to midnight, except today (Friday) when it opens at 4pm, on November 18 when it closes at 11pm and on Fridays and Saturdays when it will close at 1am.

Portimão Câmara also informs visitors to the regular monthly market and antiques fair of Portimão that the events will not take place in November. The next monthly market will be held on December 3 while the antiques fair will be held on December 2 and 16.
